Michele Capozzi and alleyways of Genoa
Posted on February 12, 2013 by albertoborriero
Meet her shop in corso Lodi except as a friend of Michele Capozzi, urban explorer and pornologo, born in Genoa and living in New York for over thirty years. Michele is in Milan, in a break from editing his latest creation, a film about the historic center of Genoa.
Michele can you talk about your last job?
Gladly, it is a film of Genoa and its historic center which is the largest in Europe. It ‘s the place where I grew up and I’ve never forgotten. After so many years in New York I decided to come back and live there for over a year and make a movie. The alleyways are magical places where the most diverse humanity living side by side, so you can meet the Community of Don Gallo near a mosque to a barber for a butcher African South American and then the community of sex workers fought by the local authority but always present and an integral part of the urban fabric. I wanted to explore again these places and give full testimony.
Often the quality of independent films have a distribution that hard to get to everyone.Where will we see your film?
The film will have a “package” in the English language to have an international perspective and for the American public in particular. It will then be presented to various film festivals in Europe and in Italy. Surely you will hear about and you will have chance to see him in the next few months.
Genoa and its baked goods, what you tell us
As a kid I grew up with two loves: the cake and my football team the Genoa club of which I am the founder of New York. I like well-oil varieties, crisp and not too high. Today I struggle to find her in the city, the old bakers are gone and the new owners are not always up to the tradition. ‘m surprised to find you in Milan and of excellent quality. Bravi!
In New York you have found a focaccia worthy of its name?
In many years of urban explorations I did not find anything worthy. Only by some friends at the restaurant “Acqua at Peck Slip” near Brooklyn Bridge you can find a good cheese focaccia di Recco.
We thank Michael who has a train in less than half an hour and must take him in a hurry. He tells me that after 21:30, there are no more trains between Milan and Genoa: “The reorganization of the railways,” he says with a puzzled tone and a smile.
Many thanks for the great shot photographer Lidia Right
